Fahrenheit 11/9

”How the f*** did this happen?” –Michael Moore

Fahrenheit 11/9 is primarily a film about Donald Trump. Not even the film poster spares any words in describing what scandalous director Michael Moore thinks about the President of the United States. It says ”Tyrant, liar, racist.”

”How the f*** did this happen?” asks Moore, referring of course to the reality TV star and real estate tycoon who rose to lead the most powerful country in the world. Moore seeks answers from people who have been trampled by Trump’s use of power. Trump’s statements concerning the much-debated gun laws are under particular scrutiny. At the same time, the director seeks evidence for the President’s racism and downright lies.

Moore’s contempt toward Trump is well known, and the director does not hide his feelings. Moore lashes at Trump and his policies mercilessly all through the film’s duration.

Fahrenheit 11/9 is one of many documentaries in recent years to scrutinise Trump and current US politics. The film looks like its director – it is strongly biased and loud in its commentary but, even as such, an important statement from the heart of the turmoil, the United States in the 2010s.
