José Pablo Estrada Torrescano promised his 95-year-old grandmother to make a film about her. Of course he knew that the matriarch of the family was an extravagant diva but he had no idea about the dark family secrets. During the shoot, Mamacita makes more sensitive revelations about herself, her grandfather who was a general and her eight children than a viewer would see during a whole season of any Mexican telenovela.
Mamacita is a cosmetics and beauty mogul, who appreciates all things grand and even flamboyant, not to mention beauty and style of course. Based on these aesthetic values, she has built not only her empire but also her private life. She lives in a grand mansion and orders her fearful servants around. Everyone bustling around Mamacita look stressed, including the family bulldog.
When her grandson comes to film this autobiographical documentary, something inside the old iron lady breaks. Walls come down and not even the showy make up is enough to cover up the sadness and loneliness of the diva.
